Abstract:
This research focuses on the impact of FDI in agricultural land on food security in host countries during the period from 2003 to 2014. By using the data of 67 developing countries with the Conditional Mixed-Process (CMP) estimator, the results show that there is an impact of FDI in agricultural land on food security in the receiving countries. This effect varies depending on the characteristics of the investor countries: FDI in agricultural land from developed countries had a positive impact on food security, while FDI in agricultural land from developing countries had a negative impact on food security through farmland reduction and negative spillover effects.
